Philosophy of Catholic Education

My experience outside of Catholic schools provided opportunities to engage in leadership practices while my student and teaching experiences within Catholic schools has developed my skills as a Catholic leader. Much of my professional experience was not in Catholic schools, however I always espoused core Christian values in my teaching and leadership. I am always active in my parish and grew up in the Catholic school system and this is where my heart lies. As teachers, our values are derived from the gospel and we exemplify Catholic virtues, but I feel that a Catholic school leader must be more. There are five essential attributes of a Catholic school leader (Regan, 2018).
  1. See the current threats as opportunities.
  2. Have passion for Mission (enriched by       Vision).
  3. Take complete ownership of material results.
  4. Engage with stakeholders in a joyful communal compact, know humility, be Christ-centered.
  5. Know the work.
I know that leading and learning takes more than one person, it takes an entire community and I am ready to build that community in a faith-based environment.
